Whether you’re staying at home or traveling for the holidays, you can have an increased risk of cavities and gum disease. Snacking More Often
You’ll be surrounded by many tasty snacks and meals that will make your mouth water. You will probably snack more during the holidays. Your teeth will be exposed to food residue more often, which can cause an overgrowth of harmful plaque.
It’s best to choose healthy snacks and step up your oral hygiene. Brush your teeth for 2 minutes in the morning, at night, and after every meal. Don’t forget to floss before going to bed.
Sugar and Starches
The holidays wouldn’t be the same if not for candy canes, stuffing, and cookies. Although they are staples of the season, they contain sugars and starches, which feed cavity-causing bacteria.
